Introduction.

Basic guide to Jungian Archetypes.

Understanding Jung’s concept of the Shadow Archetype.

Exploring the process of Individuation – how to understand and accept our own Shadow and utilise the strengths within our flaws.

The Shadow-work: how we utilise our understanding in sessions with our clients.

Aims of the day:

To understand Jung’s concept of Archetypes in general and the Shadow archetype in particular.

To understand the process of Individuation.

To develop tools which allow us to utilise Shadow-work with clients.

What the delegate will learn:

How to recognise and accept their own Shadow.

How to individuate their Shadow with their Persona and utilise currently repressed strengths.

How to apply self-understanding in work with clients.

Why they should attend:

Improved self-knowledge.

Facilitated practice.

Although Jungian theory is based in psycho-dynamic theory and practice, Shadow work can be utilised by therapeutic practitioners of all modalities.

About the Trainer - Dr Tony Wood

Dr Tony Wood is a BACP trained and qualified counsellor working independently in rural Aberdeenshire. He has a Masters degree and PhD from the University of Essex, focusing on depth psychology and applying Freud and Jung to classic and fantasy literature. He has special interests in myth, the unconscious, and creative approaches to counselling practice.
